The premise

Dutton Ranch takes the two most volatile characters from Yellowstone — Beth, the razor-sharp corporate strategist and Dutton family enforcer, and Rip, the ranch foreman turned devoted husband — and transplants them to a new geography and a new set of adversaries.²⁴ The series follows Beth and Rip as they buy a South Texas ranch and transform it into something that reflects their values and ambitions, navigating the politics, rivalries, and power structures of Rio Paloma.¹³

Taylor Sheridan, who created Yellowstone and its several spinoffs including 1883, 1923, and the upcoming 6666, is behind the new show.² His formula — morally complicated protagonists, cinematic landscapes, and a view of the American West defined by land, legacy, and controlled violence — carries through to the South Texas setting, though the terrain is meaningfully different from the Montana ranching world that defined the original series.⁴⁸

The cast

Kelly Reilly's Beth Dutton is one of the most beloved and most discussed characters in recent American television, a woman whose intelligence, ferocity, and capacity for cruelty made her the breakout figure of Yellowstone across its run.⁶¹ Reilly carries that energy into Dutton Ranch, with early reactions suggesting the character's sharp edges translate effectively to the new setting.¹

Alongside Reilly and Hauser, Dutton Ranch has assembled a notable supporting cast. Annette Bening, the Oscar-nominated actress known for American Beauty, Being Julia, and The Kids Are All Right, joins the series in a main role, as does Ed Harris, the veteran actor best known for Pollock, The Truman Show, and his Emmy-nominated turn in Westworld.³⁴ Jai Courtney, the Australian actor known for the Divergent franchise and Suicide Squad, rounds out the main cast.³

Release schedule

Following today's two-episode premiere, Dutton Ranch will release new episodes every Friday on Paramount+ at 3 a.m. ET and on Paramount Network at 8 p.m. ET/PT.⁵⁷ The series runs for nine episodes, with the finale scheduled for 3 July 2026 — a summer run that positions it as Paramount+'s major scripted offering through the end of the season.⁵
